| 10.1 |
On the subject of loser
in the exercise deal from lesson 8, you can introduce the notion of
obligatory losers, those which
one cannot prevent and transformable losers
(avoidable?), those which one can get rid of. |
| 10.2 |
For trumping the second
Heart, make them discover the danger of overtrumping and the way to
avoid it; justify the "master" trumping b the large number of Trump
honours in the two hands. |
| 10.3 |
Don't ask straight away
how the eliminate this loser; even if the answer is easy for your
pupils, you must make them distinguish between counting losers and
game plan. |
| 10.4 |
During the count of the
losers, write on the board the number of losers next to each suit. |
| 10.5 |
Remind them now that if
there are two losers to be trumped there must be at least two trumps
in dummy … and so trumps must not be played more than once! |
| 10.6 |
Suggest to
those who don't see what this is all about that they count the number
of cards already played in Diamonds. |
| 10.7 |
Ask
why, and only accept as the right answer :
"because the opponents only have four trumps and the four Hearts honours
are in hand". |
