The majority of contracts are played in major suits (Spades or Hearts) or in No-Trumps.
Indeed, playing in Clubs or Diamonds is only worth 20 points per trick bid and made compared to 30 points in Hearts or Spades. Therefore, you have make nine tricks in Clubs for example to score as many points as you get for eight tricks in Spades…..
You will rarely play in Clubs or Spades, only if the following conditions are fulfilled:
| 1) | there is not major fit in the two hands |
| 2) | the fit in Clubs or Diamonds is at least nine cards |
| 3) | there are at least 25 H points in the two hands (otherwise you can play in 3NT) |
